1. Usa River Children Centre, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Arusha, Tanzania. Contact is Geert Holm, geertholm@yahoo.com. TSP endorsed 12/14/05. Usa River Children Centre is an Orphanage and school with 50 children. Orland Park Rotary, District 6450, has agreed to sponsor this project, but funds are still needed.
2. Genesis Care Centre, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Port Shepstone, South Africa. TSP endorsed 12/14/05. Contact is Peter Brauteseth at gdickson@venturenet.co.za and Richard Alborough at banana@venturenet.co.za .
The Genesis Care Centre is a hospice built in 2004 with ward capacity of 50 patients. A literacy Acadamy, pre-school, Gymnasium, and retail outlet will be operated by the Care Centre. There is a major low-income housing project nearby and another within a mile to which bakery products can be sold.
3. Jonathan’s Child Care Centre, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Bo, Sierra Leone. TSP endorsed 11/16/06. The Centre operates an orphanage with a large regional population receiving services. The oven will be set up on the orphanage campus, and will serve a resident population of 125, and will sell the bakery products to the larger community.
4. Elim Christian Vocational Training Centre, Igede, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Makurdi, Nigeria. TSP endorsed 4/19/07.
The Elim Centre operates community-based rehabilitation, special education, and medical outreach programs for more than 1,100 impaired individuals.
5. Apostles of Jesus Missionaries Uganda Region, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Kajjansi, Uganda. TSP endorsed 4/23/08.
The Apostles of Jesus operates a comprehensive community service organization providing services to more than 20,000 children and as many adults for health care, primary and secondary schooling, agriculture, and business development. They plan to develop a women’s enterprise bakery and to use the oven for medical sterilization. The oven will be used to cook bananas, potatoes, rice, maize meal, millet meals/porridge, vegetable, meat, fish and barley bread.
